Claire, Leafie founder, has over 10 years experience working in the sustainability field, with a particular focus on recycled and whole life cycle goods in private, third sector and government organisations. She has always had a keen interest in ethical purchasing and living and has developed a particular interest in children’s health, diet and wellbeing since starting her own family in 2009.
When Claire’s own oldest child developed severe eczema she began researching and trialling many infant products aimed at sensitive or problem skin and found that those that claim to be natural or organic without clear and open certification from a well-known body may only contain a small percentage of organic ingredients and some contain undesirable and unneccesary chemicals. Unlike with food claims of organic skincare are unregulated. In some instances uncertified products claiming to be ‘organic’ have minimal organic content (less than 10%) and contain synthetic chemicals. It is often these chemicals and synthetic fragrances that cause skin sensitivity. Her own commitment to responsible, certified organic, infant and child skincare began from here.
Claire founded Leafie in 2013 with a small dedicated team that hold social and environmental factors at it’s core, offering a better choice for families. Leafie also work with a range of individuals and organisations that bring their knowledge and passions in their own specialist areas around family well being, diet and personal care.
